A loan of $775 helped to buy merchandise.

María's story

María, 52, is a woman who likes to work; she’s also kind and cordial with people. She’s married to José, the father of her children who are all independent adults now. She lives comfortably in her own house with her husband and is visited by her children and grandchildren.

Her activity is selling beverages. She has a small soda fountain at home where she kindly takes care of her customers. She has a refrigerator there she got with help from her husband. She started out more than five years ago with a bank loan buying small amounts and gradually growing. To date, she’s been working alone but occasionally her daughters visit her and help her take care of customers.

She considers the business to be quite profitable because of the profits it produces since she’s visited quite a bit by her loyal customers. She decided to start her business wanting to have an occupation and to generate her own income from the comfort of her own home because she has a problem with her back that prevents her from standing up straight; she walks bent over.

This is her MFP loan #6 and she feels grateful to know that she can count on financial support to make her plans a reality. She comments that she feels good in her communal bank because it’s a united, mutually supportive group.

She will use the requested 2000 new soles to buy more beverages in various flavors at wholesale hoping thus to increase her capital and to have more profits.
