A loan of $1,300 helped to purchase clothing, natural products, perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, etc.

Rosa Isabel's story

The communal bank Productivo meets every two weeks in the canton of Montecristi, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its handicrafts, which are renowned nationally and internationally. It is home to the famous Panama hat.

This is where Rosa lives. She is 38 years old and is in a common-law marriage, from which she has five children of ages 21,19, 17,12, and 7. Four of them still live at home and go to university, college, and school. Her husband is a heavy machinery operator.

Our friend is a home maker, who in order to obtain her own resources so that she can help her children with school expenses, works selling clothing, natural products, and Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfume, and women's accessories). Her selling method is door to door, and she works between two and three hours a day, four days a week. Her work doesn't have a fixed schedule. She leaves her products with her customers on credit, and collects payments once a week. She has been in this line of work for four years, and it is going very well because she has a good base of customers who always purchase her products.

This loan is to purchase clothing, natural products, perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, etc. She has been with the communal bank for four cycles and she enjoys it because the payments are easy to make.

Her dream is to see her children become good professionals, because she fights for them every day.
