A loan of $1,625 helped to buy materials for her business.

Cecilia's story

Cecilia is a member of the Aguas Subterráeas communal bank in the city of Viña del Mar.

She has been making and selling empanadas, hot dogs, pizza, and others for two years. She does her work at home from Monday through Friday. Her schedule for distribution is in accordance with her availability. At times she is the one who goes to her customers’ houses. She buys her merchandise from different distributors in Valparaíso.

One of Cecilia’s goals is to set up a restaurant where she could give better service to her customers.

She will use the loan to buy materials for her business. She will also repair the roof of her house. Cecilia lives with her husband and two children, ages 11 and 5. The children go to school. Her goals on a personal level are to have a nice house with a good roof and a car to deliver orders to her customers.

She is very happy and grateful for the opportunity that Fondo Esperanza has given her because it has allowed her to invest in her business. Also, she feels very comfortable in the company of the other entrepreneurs in her communal bank. They share activities and interests, which have been opportunities to pass the time pleasantly.

Viña del Mar is a city and municipality on the central Chilean coast. It is known as 'The Garden City' owing to the gardens and courtyards that some of the old houses in the city have. It is also considered the tourist capital of Chile.
