A loan of $350 helped to invest in catalog merchandise (50%) and in products to make bread and pastries (50%).

Ledys Tatiana's story

Ledys is 19 years old and lives with her spouse and their 3-year-old daughter in the town of Galapa, where she works selling specialized catalog merchandise. She is also in the baking business, which she learned from her father as a family tradition.
Her business initiative dates back to 2011, which is when she started selling cosmetics and accessories through specialized catalogs. With her father's help, she works in the baking business during the evening hours, after he gets off work. In the mornings, she delivers their bread and pastries to stores in her neighborhood and in the surrounding areas. She buys the raw material from a distributor in Galapa. She dedicates the rest of her day to her other business, selling products by catalog. She pays invoices every ten days, and sells on credit to relatives and neighbors in the area where she lives.
Her investment will be successful because she has high demand, due to the good quality of the products she makes and sells. She is currently requesting a Kiva loan, which is her first financing with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, and she will invest 50% of it in catalog products, and the other 50% in materials to make bread and pastries, because her main goal is setting up a general store and also having a well-structured bakery. Her ultimate dream is to have her own home and provide for her family.
