Millicent is a mother of three children, all adults. She lives in a rental house that has electricity but no piped water. She has been selling firewood and charcoal to hotel operators for the last six years. Millicent dreams of opening a cereal shop in the future. She describes food to be her greatest monthly expense, and high transportation costs to be her major challenge.
With the loan of Ksh 20,000, she intends to purchase firewood and sacks of charcoal to sell.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
