A loan of $1,125 helped to buy seeds and to hire workers.

Inés's story

Inés is 53 years old and a cheerful, friendly, and enterprising woman. She is the mother of seven children, but only two of them (ages 17 and 11) live with her. The rest are grown and independent.

Her work begins when she leaves early to get to her field. Her tasks involve cultivating, irrigating, and preparing the land so that she can plant her "camu camu" crop (a regional fruit). Inés also produces honey. She has been in business for approximately 23 years. Inés learned this trade as a young woman since she was taught by her parents. She now teaches her two young children after they return from school. By helping her, they are able to learn the family business. Inés enjoys her work because she is able to spend time with her children and also generate good sales. The products that are yielded by the land are very good. She ships her products to the city of Lima, where another son is in charge of selling them. Inés hopes to continue earning a living so that she can move forward and begin planting another type of crop.

This will be her fifth loan with MFP. Inés is pleased to know that she will have a loan to help her complete her goals. She promises to be punctual with her payments because she does not want to be on bad terms with her group since everyone is very responsible. The loan amount of 3,000 PEN that she requested will be used to buy seeds and to pay a few workers to help with planting bell peppers so that she can start a new crop.
