A loan of $200 helped to buy cocoa bean plants.

Zenaida's story

Zenaida, 32, is married to Robinson, 35, and they have three children; the house they live in is theirs and it’s made of substantial materials.

She’s been growing cocoa beans and coffee for ten years, an activity she does alongside her husband but during harvest and weeding seasons she gets help from day laborers. What she likes best about this activity is to see the fruit be very large and her plants to be productive. However, what’s difficult is not being able to easily eliminate the infestations that interrupt her crops’ development.

The harvests she obtains are of very good quality which makes them profitable at the moment they are sold to gathering societies. For later on she’d like to expand her field and cultivate more cocoa bean plants.

This is her MFP loan #6 and she feels grateful for the support being given because she’ll be able to continue with her business plans. She also commits to be very punctual with her installment payments. She also likes being part of her communal bank because she works with fraternal and responsible people.

She will use the requested 500 new soles to buy more cocoa bean plants to grow on her parcel.
