A loan of $400 helped pay her day laborers.

Elsa's story

Elsa is 56 years old and married to Amador, with whom she has six children. Three of them live at home. They have their own home located in the native community of Chanchamayo.

Elsa appears week but her character is strong and she is a hard worker. For more than 30 years she has worked in agriculture and with all the knowledge she has acquired in those years, it is sure that she will excel in the countryside. She has 12 production areas where she grows coffee, achiote, bananas and a little bit of yuca and oranges. With this many fields, she can prioritize which products are better for her and increase their harvest. "This year I am growing a block of coffee and it's going well even though the price is not favorable", she says. She trusts that in the next few years, her other parcels will produce more and increase her earnings.

With the help of her husband and the day laborers that she hires, she can optimize her work and take care of both the pre-orders and her sales. She hopes to harvest the rest of the coffee that she is cultivating so that she can have more income and give her family a better standard of living.

This is her fifth loan with MFP and she gives her word to be on time with her monthly payments. She belongs to the communal bank "Los Pomporitos de Shankivironi” and she feels happy to have responsible and active group members. With this current loan, she will be able to pay the day laborers that will clean and harvest all of the coffee that she has.
