A loan of $400 helped to buy seeds.

Melania's story

Melania is 57 years old and lives in her own home with husband Héctor. They have seven children, but they no longer live with them.

Melania grows potatoes, peas, carrots, and beans, and then sells them at the wholesale market in the city. Thanks to this business and her efforts, she has been able to raise her seven children and provide them with an education. Now that they have left home and are independent, she is very proud of them. "I have been farming for more than 30 years and I am learning ways to improve my production all the time," Melania says. Despite her age, she continues to carry her tools and work the land with the same amount of effort as before, except now her goals are clearer. Melania also raises animals, such as cows and bulls, for fattening. She keeps them between 4-6 months before selling them at good prices. Her husband helps her with these two business activities, so she is never alone. He is an exemplary partner.

This will be her sixth loan with MFP. Melania promises to be punctual with her monthly payments. She also enjoys working with her Communal Bank, “Virgen María” (Virgin Mary), because all of the members and responsible and supportive people. The money she requested will be used to buy two cans of spinach seeds that she will begin planting once she receives the loan.
