Feature Progresss Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Future Progress” group from Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They are small-businesswomen who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org in order to seek a loan of 1,200,000.00 Sierra Leonean Leones for each in the group. With this loan, they will be able to add more goods to their businesses, attract more customers, make more sales and profit and consequently improve on their living conditions.

The leader of this group of entrepreneurs is Yatta. Yatta was born in Kenema city forty-four years ago. She is married and has four children. Her husband is a trader and her children are attending primary and secondary schools. Yatta sells slippers and has been a businesswoman for eight years now. With her share of this loan, she will buy dozens of slippers to add to her business.
