A loan of $1,600 helped a member to buy a sewing machine for her sewing & embroidery business.

Shahida Parveen's Group's story

Shahida Parveen is 39-year-old married woman, and by this relationship she has seven children: three boys and four daughters. Two of her daughters are involved in sewing and embroidery work and also contribute to the family financially, while others are free and don’t do anything. Shahida herself is also involved in sewing & embroidery work. Her work is home based. She gets orders from her neighboring customers and also from her relatives. Besides her sewing & embroidery work, she gives the required time to her household activities. She makes the utmost effort to provide comfort to her family by fulfilling their needs. Her husband operates a mobile shop where he sells mobile phones and accessories to his customers and earns good profits.

Shahida has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her sewing & embroidery business. With the loan investment, she will purchase a sewing machine for sewing dresses because her current machine is also used by her daughters which affects the deadlines. With the new sewing machine, she will be able to meet the orders on time and it will be a good addition to her business assets. She is confident about the positive financial results from her business after the loan investment.
