A loan of $625 helped to buy stationery products for her Internet Cafe.

Jovana's story

Jovana, age 32, lives with her husband and 13 year old daughter to the south of the city. That is where they have a business providing Internet and telecommunication services by the minute. This is in addition to selling varied merchandise, which is another of her business activities that generates income.

She is very well-known in the sector where she lives, and that is where she has gotten most of her customers. She also has buyers, especially of her varied merchandise, in other neighborhoods in the city.

When she started her business she did it with her own resources. Her objective was to support her husband’s achievement. He was the one that contributed her first seed money for $1.000.000 COP so that she could adapt the establishment with computer equipment. She put the equipment in the living room of the house where she still lives with her family.

Her goal is to have the most modern computer equipment that exixts in the market and to strengthen her place. She will do this by adding a lot of inventory of varied, miscellaneous merchandise.

However, her greatest challenge is that she does not have sufficient working capital to achieve her expectations. That is why she turns to a Kiva loan, her first loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the loan to buy stationery products in order to start on the uphill road towards the growth of her business. Then she will fulfill her dream of seeing her daughter become a successful person in the future.
