Elisa Luz's story

Elida is a very hardworking woman. She’s 50 years old but has the spirit of a 20-year-old. Her husband lives by her side; he works in security in their neighborhoods municipality. They have a little 7 year old boy who she loves very much and strives daily alongside her husband to give him a good quality of life and much love.

Her house is located in the city of Ica, a city noted for its year-round hot, welcoming climate. The Huacachina Lagoon is also found there; it’s surrounded by spectacular dunes and is visited by many tourists all year.

When she has free time she enjoys watching television and on occasion to read a book; she also takes advantage of the opportunity to prepare one of her favorite dishes, the very delicious “Escabeche de Pollo.” She only attended secondary school but would have liked to have studied Nursing.

With much enthusiasm Elida works in her store selling soft-drinks, eggs and clothes. She spends about 8 hours daily there and can tend to up to 10 customers per day. She believes that she does well in her business because the customers know her and above all because she treats them kindly and enthusiastically.

Elida is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they’ve given her she will be able to buy more merchandise like rice, sugar, noodles and canned goods, among others as well as to do some home improvements. With this improvement she’ll have a wider variety of goods for her customers and also will improve her quality of life so she can continue striving every day to make her greatest dream a reality: to give her children a good education.
