A loan of $1,100 helped to buy poultry and construct housing units.

Richard's story

Richard is a farmer in Kitale, Western Kenya where he lives with his two children, one of whom is currently enrolled in college. He runs his farm with the help of one farmhand and produces mainly maize and beans, which he sells at the local market. Richard has requested a loan of 90,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help him venture into the poultry farming business. He says there are great prospects for growth, owing to the lively regional market for poultry products. He will buy poultry for 40,000 KES and construct a housing unit for 50,000. He faces challenges like costly and unreliable labor and poor road networks in the area. This is Richard's fourth loan, and he appreciates Juhudi Kilimo's services.
