A loan of $775 helped to buy seeds and fertilizer.

Norma's story

Norma is 30 years old. She lives with Ulises, the father of her two children (12 and 7 years old). They live in their own house in Tarma’s Huasahuasi District. Two years ago her economy improved thanks to the investment and the effort she put into the activity she does. She’s been in agriculture since she was a little girl. Now that she has a family of her own she works with even more dedication. Ulises supports her with these demanding tasks; it’s been almost ten years. Her main crops are peas, potatoes and corn that she sells for a good price at her district’s and her city’s wholesale markets that she goes to after each harvest. Thanks to agriculture she was able to obtain the four parcels of farmland she owns as well as two bulls of good pedigree that she uses to till the soil. “I like to work in the fields because it’s what I know how to do well,” she comments very proudly. For the future she’d like to improve the quality and quantity of her products. This would be loan #2 with MFP. Since she became part of the “Unión Huanchán” communal bank her work has been improving because she can rely on her group whenever some urgent need arises. Norma will use the money she’s requesting now to buy two sacks of pea seeds for 1100 soles; she will use the rest to buy fertilizer.
