A loan of $400 helped a member to buy soap.

Mougnou Group's story

MOUGNOU is a group consisting mainly of married women with an average age of 30 years, who have on average 3 children. They mostly live in monogamous families in Hamdallaye, one of the working-class neighborhoods of the city of Sikasso in the third administrative region of Mali.
This is their third loan with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution and is requested in order to help them meet the needs of their customers.
AMINTA trades soap. In the MOUGNOU group of women she is standing on the far right of the photo.
She plans to use the loan to buy 10 boxes of soap from wholesalers that she can sell retail at the market and from her home for cash to a customer base consisting mostly of women.
She expects to make an average monthly profit of 12,500 FCFA, a portion of which will be used to pay back the loan with interest, while the rest will be put into savings.
