The client is a member of the Ephata loan group. She is a dynamic young entrepreneur who is 22 years old, newly married, and doesn't have any children. She works in her own hardware business, helping her husband who is a hardware dealer. Before she got married, she learned the trade from her father who is in the same business, therefore this client is an expert in the field of selling building supplies and hardware. She grew up in her biological family depending on this business. The profits she makes from her business help her to save and buy food. She is taking out her fourth loan. Over the course of her previous loans, the client has seen her business thrive. For this reason, she decided to increase her loan amount this time round. She will use this new loan to stock up with electrical supplies. In addition, she hopes to buy a plot of land in the future as she and her husband are still newly weds. The client thanks Hekima for empowering poor women with low incomes. We feel we should point out that [in the photo] some clients are holding their babies.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
