A loan of $775 helped to purchase natural fertilizers.

Nélida's story

Nélida is 35 years old and lives with her husband who she married three years ago. They have three daughters who they raise in their own home located in the town of Pampa Blanca.

Her main source of income is the sale of food to the nurses in her town. They pay her daily for the food. She also opened a grocery store three years ago where she sells basic necessities to the people living in her area. On the other hand, her husband works as a driver carrying cargo in his parent's truck throughout the country. "At times he is gone for several days," she comments. It is then that she has to watch the fields that they posses, especially the potato and olluco (Peruvian tubers). The lands that they have they inherited from their parents and they sell their harvest each year in the capital of the country, taking advantage of the work of her husband to transport the product. Now they are harvesting olluco in great quantities. "This year the price in the market is very high, and thus we will plant more," Nélida explains.

A few months ago, because of an earthquake, one of the walls of the house cracked. Thus, now she is thinking of moving her things to a more secure room and the damaged room will be demolished in order to construct a more resistant one.

She belongs to the communal bank "Pampa Blanca" and this is her seventh credit with MFP. She feels happy to be part of her group, since they have worked together for several years now, and everyone helps each other.

Nélida will invest the requested money in the purchase of natural fertilizers for her next planting of olluco.
