A loan of $1,525 helped to pay for workers for the harvest.

Inés's story

Ines, 31, lives with Fredy, her husband of 13 years. They have 3 small children who they are raising and educating in their own home, located in the town of Pampas de Tayacaja.

For 10 years, she has been buying and selling land. Her work consists of buying tracts of land to sell them after a few years for double the value. This business has been very profitable. Also, she considers it a form a saving for the future, most of all for their children.

Her husband, who works as a machine operator for the city government, covers the household expenses. From this job he receives a monthly salary that helps to pay the bills that they have. But, as she is a hardworking woman, she also cultivates corn and potatoes on these small tracts of land which she sells in the city. She also sells food at the various festivals that are held from time to time.

Over all of this time, she has managed to acquire a small car with which her husband works to transport passengers in his spare time. "There are some days when we go out in the little car that we have; it is a family time when we can play and converse," she says.

This is the fifth loan that she has taken from MFP, and she feels grateful for the support that she has received, as it has helped her to continue with her business. In addition, she appreciates being part of her group, that is made up of supportive and very good people. Ines will invest the money she is requesting in the payment of fieldworkers for her harvest. She will also use some of the money to purchase, with some other funds she has, some new land.
