A loan of $1,150 helped to buy a cow.

Jessica Milagro's story

Jessica is a young, 25-year-old woman who lives with her parents, who both work in agriculture and sell fruit in the city market. Their home is located in the city of Imperial, and is known for its hot climate and the cultivation of cotton, plantains, corn and other staples. Jessica is a hardworking person, and her parents taught her from a young age what it meant to work hard to make a living and to work for your daily bread.

Three years ago, Jessica started selling cow’s milk. At the beginning, it was difficult to manage the business, but little by little she learned how to grow her operation, and she now has five cows that she takes care of as if they were her own children. One time, one of her cows knocked her over and she had a hard fall. She recently learned how to milk the cows, and she believes that her business is going so well because she is very kind to her clients and takes good care of her cows so that they give good milk.

Jessica is very grateful to Kiva lenders for their support, which has allowed her to buy a cow and increase her milk production and income. She works hard every day in hopes of one day accomplishing her dream of making her parents proud, having a stable for her cows and a growing business.
