A loan of $4,650 helped a member to buy fringe.

Lirios Group's story

The “Lirios” (Lilies) communal bank will start its 20th cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Collpani Focal Center. It has 11 members led by a governing board headed by Paula. The communal bank members carry out a variety of activities among which we have: blanket sales, fruit sales, CD and DVD sales, snack and clothing sales, public transportation, car cover sales, minibus services, shoe sales, condiment sales and detergent sales.

Paula indicates that she’s been part of a Pro Mujer communal bank for nine years having been invited to join by a girlfriend. She currently has a business making and selling blankets that she’s been in for years having learned from her mother.

The loan she’s now taking out is to increase capital (to buy blanket fringe) that she’ll buy from distributors and after manufacture will sell to order in street markets in La Paz. This way of working allows her to generate income to support her family in any way possible since she’s married and has nine children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the health training and the credit.

In this group: Paula Emeteria, Jovana, Guillermina, Guillermina, Carmen Adela, Milenka Julia, Ana Mabel, Verónica, Alicia Patricia, Maria Rafa, Carmen
