A loan of $775 helped to buy vegetables to stock up her business.

Marìa Vilma's story

María is a 27-year-old single woman with one dependent child and lives with her partner in her own house. She mentions that the quality of life in the community is of subsistence; the majority of the inhabitants are independent workers that make a living through commerce, agriculture, and livestock. María lives in the hamlet of Annape in the district of Mórrope, department of Lambayeque; it has basic electricity service and gets water through an artesian well. She says that all the families in this district live under these conditions.

The work through which María makes a living is the purchase and sale of vegetables, which she sells in a stall in the market of Mórrope, where she is doing well with the business. She also makes a living raising and fattening up goats and poultry, generating more income to cover her own costs. It is worth noting that María has had two years of experience in this work, which has allowed her to keep her already established customers in this business. Likewise, her partner also supports her in this work.

Now, María is asking for a new loan from Edpyme Alternativa for an amount of 2000 nuevos soles that will be used for working capital (to buy vegetables) and to arrange her pens. This is because it is a very profitable activity in the area, and which in time will allow her to go on improving her standard of living with her family.
