A loan of $400 helped to maintain his motor taxi.

Luis Alberto's story

Luis is a forty-three-year-old man who has a common law wife and three kids in his care. He lives with his partner and kids in their own house. He says that the standard of living in his community is subsistence, and most people work independently in business, farming, and livestock. Luis lives in the hamlet of Los Laureles, Cayalti District in the department of Lambayeque. He also has basic electrical service, and says that all the families in the district live under these conditions.

Luis's works in motor taxi public transportation; his routes go back and forth among zones in Los Laureles and other zones in Cayalti. In his free time, he also offers agrochemical services to make more money to cover expenses. He notes that he has five years of experience in public transportation, which have allowed him to maintain an established clientele.

Luis is currently seeking a loan from Edpyme Alternativa of 1000 soles, which he plans to use to maintain his vehicle (change the oil, tires, and suspension system); it's a very profitable business in his area and in time it's going to allow him to improve his and his family's quality of life.
