A loan of $700 helped to buy fertilizers.

Miguel's story

One of the things Miguel is most passionate about is coffee, especially since age 11 when he began working at his father's side on the plantation, sowing and harvesting. When he turned 22 he became independent and began working on his own farmland with his wife Rocío. They have four children who also currently work in coffee production. Miguel also grows banana leaves for shade on his plantation. They are in high demand in the food making business, so this activity generates extra income.

During the last harvest, Miguel and his family reached a production of 13 tons. His 4-year plan is to reach a total 20 tons, since he has already planted 2,000 new seedlings which will take that long to start producing coffee. Therefore, Miguel is in need of a loan to buy fertilizer for his land. In addition to increasing coffee production, another goal Miguel has for himself and his children is to begin raising cattle. This is to leave them more inheritance so they can have a better lifestyle.
