A loan of $825 helped to buy more clothes for resale.

Joyce's story

Joyce is 48 years old and lives in the town of Luwero in the Luwero region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children of whom currently are not in school. For the past 4 years, Joyce has been working hard to manage her small business which sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Joyce has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes for resale, and will help Joyce to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her children. Joyce hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business.

Joyce is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Joyce who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
