A loan of $1,225 helped to buy more drinks for resale.

Margret's story

Margret is 35 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in east Kampala, Uganda. She is single and has seven children, four of whom are currently in school. For the past 10 years, Margret has been working hard to manage her bar, which sells drinks such as beer and soda. To help expand her business, Margret has requested a loan of 3000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more drinks for resale, and will help Margret to generate greater profits and educate her children. Margret hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business. Margret is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Margret who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
