A loan of $1,150 helped buy commercial feed for fattening her sheep plus fertilizers for her crops.

Tomasa's story

Tomasa is a 27-year-old woman who is married and has 2 children. She lives in her own house with her husband and her children. The quality of life in her community is subsistence level. The majority of residents are independent workers dedicated to commerce and raising smaller farm animals, while some also farm. Tomasa lives in Estancia Chica in Olmos district, Lambayeque department. She has only basic electrical services; there is also a medical outpost, a school, and a church. All the families who reside there live under these same conditions.

Tomasa's commercial activity is raising and selling pigs, sheep, and chickens in corrals alongside her house. It bears mentioning that she has 7 years experience in the business. Tomasa sells her animals to wholesale merchants in the zone. In addition, she has cropland with 0.5 hectares planted in lemon trees, which are in attractive condition and can be harvested weekly, offering an additional source of income.

At present, Tomasa wants to expand her inventory of animals to raise and sell, since this is a very profitable activity in the zone. That's why she is requesting a new loan through Edpyme Alternativa for the sum of 3,000 new sols, to purchase animal feed plus fertilizers for her lemon trees. In time, this should allow her to improve her standard of living.
