A loan of $400 helped to buy animal feed for fattening and to buy fertilizers for his crops.

Marcos Leoncio's story

Marcos is a 45 year old man, single without children, and lives in his own home. It is noted that the quality of life in the community is subsistence level. Most of the residents are self-employed people who work in trades or breeding small animals and some of them also work in agriculture.

Marcos lives in the village of Nueva Esperanza in the district of Tambogrande, of the department of Piura, and they have only basic services of electric power, but all the families who settle there live under these conditions.

The activity that Marcos is dedicated to is the breeding and selling of pigs and poultry, raising these animals in pens outside his home. It is noteworthy that Marcos has 10 years experience, which has permitted him to maintain an established customer base in this business. He sells his animals to the wholesalers in the area. At the same time he works on his farm where he has planted 0.5 hectares of lemons which has a good phenological state which he can harvest weekly, which gives him other earnings.

Currently Marcos is planning to expand his inventory in regards to breeding and selling animals because this activity is very profitable in the area. It is because of this that he is asking for a new loan from Edpyme Alternative in the amount of 1,000 soles which will be used to buy animal feed and fertilizers for his lemon trees which over time will permit him to go on improving his standard of life.
