A loan of $3,550 helped a member to purchase ingredients for her food stand.

Amigas Group's story

The Amigas group is in its third loan cycle. The group took this name because the members have been friends and neighbors for a number of years. The group consists of seven members, including Maria Eugenia. She is 46 years, married and has three children, ages 30, 18 and 17. She has a business selling hamburgers out of her home. She works to help her husband with household expenses and provide a better life for the younger two children who still live with them. They are both currently in high school. Maria Eugenia is requesting the loan to invest in ingredients to increase her sales. She also plans to purchase what she needs to start selling more variety, like tacos and gorditas, and in this way increase her profits. Her long-term goal is to have a well-established restaurant on an avenue near her home and to tend to it alongside her family so they can all stay united. With this, she plans to have a better life both for her and her family.
