Shirin's story

Shirin is 38 years old. She is a married Iraqi woman and a mother of two children.

With limited career options due to cultural restrictions and domestic constraints, Shirin is one of many woman who are working from home, using her sewing skills to generate some income and participate in meeting the financial needs of her family.

Shirin has 7 years of experience in sewing and tailoring, working from home on a typical sewing machine mounted on a small wooden stool. She would like to improve her small business by purchasing a new sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine. To be able to make these purchases, she took a loan from Relief International Microfinance Iraq in the amount of 1000 USD.
