A loan of $1,000 helped to buy two boxes of cord, at a cost of $300 each, to increase her hammock production.

Ana Elsa's story

Ana, 46, and her husband work hard making crafts (hammocks). She learned the craft as a young girl, and also sells pupusas (stuffed tortillas) for extra income. Ana and her husband buy supplies, such as cord, for their hammocks every 15 days. They take public transporation that lasts three hours. She is in need of a loan to buy two boxes of cord, at a cost of $300 each, to increase hammock production. She sells them in a city in the eastern part of the country where she has customers and sales are more profitable. With this investment she hopes to improve her economic income as well as her lifestyle. Ana would like to buy a vehicle to transport her goods and also sell them in closer communities.
