A loan of $800 helped to buy more clothes for resale.

Rebecca's story

Rebecca is twenty-nine years old and lives in the town of Soroti in the Mbale region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, one of them currently in school. For the past two years, Rebecca has been working hard to manage her small business selling clothes.

To help expand her business, Rebecca has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes for resale, and will help Rebecca to generate greater profits and increase her stock. Rebecca hopes that in the future she will be able to start selling both second-hand and new clothes.

Rebecca is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Rebecca who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
