Matondo 2 Group's story

Rita, age 32, is a single mother with one 16-year-old daughter. She is representing the Matondo 2 loan group. Rita makes and sells bags and sells pharmaceutical products from a small boutique near her house. She has been in this businesses for four years and is requesting this loan to buy more bag-making materials such as yarn, plastic cord and zippers. She will also use part of this loan to buy more medicines to stock in her boutique. Her business strategy is to advertise to the public and get the word out about her products. Rita has received two previous loans from Kiva's partner, HOPE Congo, and has a very good repayment record. She wants to continue to expand her business and carry other products. She also hopes to start a small school to train girls and single mothers on how to make and sell bags. She will save some of the profits earned by her business to pay for her daughter's future studies.
