A loan of $400 helped to buy a small food cart.

Erika Pamela's story

Erika is 30 years old. She is mother of 3 children aged 12, 7 and 1: she adores them and she thinks they are the best gift that she has received from God. She lives in Chincha, a town characterized by its warm and welcoming climate, as well as for being the birthplace of great Peruvian sportspeople; it is also known for the tasty flavors used to prepare food. Whenever she has some free time, she deeply enjoys spending time with her children, as well as eating one of her favorite dishes, the delicious “Arroz con pato” (duck with rice).

Erika engages in her activity with deep enthusiasm: she sells sweets such as purple “mazamorra” (corn porridge), rice pudding, and she also sells “salchipollo” (fried potatoes served with fried chicken and sauces). She works for about 8 hours a day and she can serve up to 45 customers per day. She thinks her activity is going well because she is very kind with her customers and above all because she has a good flavor she uses for her sweets.

Erika is deeply grateful to Kiva lenders, because thanks to their help she will be able to buy a small food cart. Thanks to this investment, she will be able to increase her sales, since she has received many orders from her customers; and as her income will consequently increase and she will be able to keep on fighting to make her biggest dream come true: “To have a house of her own and to make her activity grow”.
