Mauricio's story

Mauricio is a very young farmer, barely 23 years old. He is a father and lives in the southern part of the country, in Concepción de Pilas, Puntarenas province. Local economy revolves around agricultural activities, principally tubers, coffee, corn, black beans and animal husbandry. Mauricio asks for a loan of ₡600,000 (six hundred thousand colones) to buy corn and bean seeds, pellet fertilizer and fungicides to protect his crops while they grow and prevent fungi from attacking them. He sells his harvest to a local association and uses this income to support his family and face other economic obligations. He wishes to become a bigger producer and to prosper, to earn more money and give his family more amenities. With this goal in mid, he strives with all his might at his agricultural activity. This is Mauricio's first loan as a member of Empresa de Crédito Comunal denla Danta S.A, one of the 150 communal banks that exist in Costa Rica.
