Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $575 helped to purchase beauty products.

Marìa Vanessa's story

María is a 29-year-old woman who is in a common-law relationship and has three dependent children. She lives with her husband and children in their own home, which is located in the village of La Ladrillera in the District of Cayalti. They receive electricity services. This place is a city with approximately 800 families.

María has a business of selling beauty products. She also offers gelatin, popsicles, and frozen milk treats for sale in a section of her home that she manages every day of the week. María has been in business for approximately three years. She learned this trade from her parents and is known for being a perfectionist in her work. To complement her business, her husband generates income as a farmer by growing his crops. They help one another with the family expenses.

The loan amount of 1,500 PEN that she is requesting will be invested in the purchase of beauty products. This will enable her to serve her customers in the area so that she can improve her standard of living.
