José Antonio's story

José is a 35 year old man living in Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador, a place rich in scenery from its flower filled land to its city full of people who carry out commerce around it.

Because it’s located in a strategic spot, this place is noted for having people with both coastal and mountain traits. The city of Santo Domingo is also noted for its numerous traditions and dishes that have been passed down from generation to generation.

José is well aware of this. Since the age of five he’s been manufacturing artisanal brown sugar blocks. With a family of five children he decided to use the teachings he’d gotten from his family to start a business of his own and earn a living that way. He works nearly 12 hours per day in one of Quito’s rural parishes two hours away from where he lives with his family in order to earn better income.

One of his greatest dreams is to have a house of his own and to give his children a better life. Through this opportunity he will be able to increase sales and little by little grow as a businessman in his location. We hope that with this opportunity José will be able to obtain everything he proposes for his business.
