A loan of $2,300 helped to buy plants, fertilizer and to pay labor costs.

Hugo's story

Hugo is a farmer and cattleman in the Huatusco, Veracruz zone. He’s 45 years old and lives in his own house with his wife and three children. He has grown coffee for a long time since his father taught him everything related to the occupation when he was a boy. He produces organic coffee that he sells to Unión Regional de Huatusco [coffee cooperative]. He also has additional activities that produce a bit of extra profit which are sugarcane production and animal husbandry.

For Hugo, family is most important. What he most wants is to help them get ahead, especially his children who are his greatest inspiration which is why he’s decided to ask for a loan to improve his coffee farm buying fertilizer, plants to renew and to pay labor costs for the farming chores so that he can obtain a good harvest that will make it possible for him to improve his income as well as his quality of life.
