A loan of $925 helped to buy fertilizer, coffee plants and do weeding in his property.

Dimas's story

Dimas has been growing coffee for 23 years; he learned how to work this crop with his father when he was still a little boy. He is currently 56 years old and with his wife, Minerva, does this activity which has been their main source of income to raise their two children who are currently students.

His organic coffee production is of export quality and has a very good market price. Dimas produces about 4 tons annually and hires staff to do so which is of great economic benefit for the families of the personnel that works with him.

One of his goals is that his land’s yield increases so he needs a loan to buy fertilizer and plants to renew and also to do weeding tasks on his land. He’d also like to get some training from “Unión Regional de Huatusco” [coffee cooperative] so that his yields can increase in a period of three years.

Dimas also works in construction to earn extra income and to be able to send his children to university which is located away from the community where he lives.
