A loan of $425 helped a member purchase items for beauty salon.

Djiguitougou Group's story

All married into polygamous families, the four women in the Djiguitougou group are on average 35 years old with three children. They all live in the city of Koutiala, part of Sikasso (third administrative region of Mali) and became acquainted through neighborhood ties, kinship and their professional activities.

They buy and sell condiments (peanut paste, onions, and peanut oil) and clothing, manufacture local juices, and work as hairdressers.

To increase their working capital, the group members have joined Soro Yiriwaso and are on their twelfth loan, having properly repaid the previous eleven.

Madam Kadia (the first woman on the right in the photo) is a great hairdresser who is highly sought after and valued for the quality of her services.
She plans to use her loan to purchase two boxes of hair extensions, one carton of hair pomade, hair combs and lotions.

She buys from local wholesalers and provides services in her beauty salon, mainly for cash, to both men and women customers.

With this loan, Mrs. Kadia hopes to achieve an average monthly profit of 40,000 FCFA to be used for reinvestment in the business and take care of some household needs.
