A loan of $550 helped to buy construction materials for her home (iron, beams, sand, cement, stone, etc.).

Ines's story

Ines was born in the city of Maputo in the province of the same name in southern Mozambique. She is the single mother of 2 children, one of whom is an adult, and the other is in school. She studied through sixth grade and didn't continue due to the lack of financial resources. She lives in her own home with her family and doesn't support anyone else besides them.

She has worked at the Barragem dos Pequenos Libombos [a hydroelectric dam] for more than 16 years. She makes 11,000 meticals per month, which she puts towards her home's expenses. She also saves some in her bank account at the Barclay's bank.

She has had loans with another bank (Barclay's) and paid them back without any problems. She became familiar with Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is her third loan with Hluvuku, and it is for 15,000 meticals. She will use it to buy construction materials for her home (iron, beams, sand, cement, stone, etc.). Her previous loans were for 10,000 and 12,000 meticals, and both went towards her home.

She promises to pay back her loan on time. In the future, she wants to finish and furnish her home, for which she plans to request more loans from Hluvuku.
