A loan of $750 helped to buy construction materials for her home (pipes, beams, sheet metal, iron, etc.).

Lidia's story

Lidia was born in the district of Chibuto, in the province of Gaza in southern Mozambique. She is married and is the mother of 5 children, all of whom go to school. She studied through the sixth grade and didn't continue due to her parents' lack of financial resources. She lives in her own home with her family and doesn't support anyone besides them.

She left Gaza for Maputo when she met her husband. She has had a business for more than 10 years selling various clothing. She makes close to 6,000 meticals per month, which she puts towards her home's expenses. She also saves some in her bank account and through Xitique (a traditional system of rotating savings).

She has had loans with other banks and paid them back without problems. She became familiar with Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is her third loan with Hluvuku in the amount of 20,000 meticals, which she will use to buy construction materials for her home (pipes, beams, sheet metal, iron, etc.). Her previous loans were for 11,000 and 20,000 meticals, and they were also put towards her home.

She promises to make her payments on time, and in the future, she wants to finish her home and construct another one to rent out, for which she is planning on requesting more loans from Hluvuku.
