Iamze's story

Iamze is 41 years old. She lives in Gori District with her family; her husband Muraz, two sons (19 and 16 years old) and her mother-in-law (retired). The main source of income for the family is agriculture. They have a dairy farm with 3 milk cows and 3 calves. Iamze produces cheese and sells on average 50 kg of this product in the Gori market. Along with the dairy the family is busy with farming. They grow cabbage, onions, plums, apples and cherries on the family-owned 1 hectare plot of land. Iamze and Muraz sell harvested products to local green grocer retailers. The total average monthly income of the family is 1000 lari.

Iamze requested credit for an expansion of the dairy farm. She will purchase 2 milk cows. With 5 milk cows the family will be able to increase production and sales of cheese by 60%. The income of the family will increase and Iamze will be able to purchase additional household goods to improve their living conditions.
