Lucy is a married woman with five children, all of whom attend school. She operates a tailoring business and sells her goods to the general public. She dreams of opening a village poly-technique in the future. She lives in a rental house that has electricity but no piped water. Lucy’s greatest monthly expenses are food, school fees, and rent. She describes seasonality to be her major challenge.
With the loan of Ksh 20,000, she plans to buy fabrics to make garments.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
