A loan of $550 helped to buy office supplies, paper for making plans, etc.

Amelia Josefa's story

The Santa Marianita Communal Bank meets every fifteen days in the Santa Marianita neighbourhood of the city of Manta. This city is known for its beautiful beaches which are visited frequently in every season by local and international tourists. Manta is one of the most important ports in the country and in South America, located on the shores of the Pacific.
Here we meet Señora Amelia. She is 56, married, and has four grown and independent children. Her husband is retired.
Amelia is an architect and has her own office. She works collaboratively with engineers, designing homes, bridges and other works. She also helps people who are applying for government home credits for building their own homes. Amelia works Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm with the help of one employee who serves clients when she is visiting work sites. She has been doing this job for over 25 years, and she always has work to do.
This loan is for the purchase of office supplies: paper for making plans and other items. She has been a member of the communal bank for two cycles, and she likes it because it is easy to make payments.
Her goal is to keep moving forward.
