A loan of $2,300 helped to buy coffee plants and organic fertilizer.

Jaime Amador's story

For 25 years Jaime worked with his grandfather and that’s where he learned everything related to coffee growing and cattle. When he got married he and his wife started working as servants for other people and in 1970 were finally able to make one of their greatest dreams a reality: to buy their own land.

Currently, Jaime continues producing coffee; his children help him and he also has two other people that help him and during harvest which is when there is the most work to be done they hire more people thus helping the economy of other families too.

The last harvest, Jaime delivered 20 tons to the “Unión Regional de Huatusco” [coffee cooperative] and he feels that with a loan it will be possible to increase production up to 20% because it’s necessary to replace some of the plants that are in poor condition and also apply fertilizer to his farm.

One of the things Jaime wants to attain the most is a better lifestyle for his wife since she’s currently in poor health having suffered partial paralysis of her body some time ago.
