Managua, Nicaragua / Construction Supplies

A loan of $700 helped to replace her home's roof.

Luz Marina's story

Luz Marina is 41 years old and the mother of three children. She is an agriculturist by profession. She is currently working for a state enterprise and is responsible for Accounting Archives. Her husband is a welder by trade and helps her with the household expenses. Together they have been able to achieve their goals. Luz is a very active woman and her goal is the construction of her home. She came to Afodenic because the cost of building materials is high, and after paying her obligations and household expenses, she does not have enough of her salary left to complete the work all at once. This is her first loan cycle and she feels very fortunate to belong to the great Kiva family. She will purchase zinc sheets, purlins, wooden doors, screws, solder, and other materials to replace her home’s roof. This is her main concern right now because winter is approaching and she doesn’t want any water leaking through. Making this home improvement will enable her children to be healthy and have better living conditions, which is her primary goal.
