A loan of $775 helped to buy a motorcycle.

Fred's story

Fred is a single man who is 32 years old and without children or dependants. He rides a motorcycle commonly reffered to as a "boda boda" in the outskirts of Kampala city. He transports clients from all corners of the city but more so the ones that have known him for some time and have built confidence in him. Fred has been doing this business since 2009. He works six days a week and farms vegetables to supplement his income. He wants this loan to buy his own motorcycle since he rides someone else's who he has to pay UGX 10,000 per day. He wishes to do large-scale agiculture in the future.

The major challenge he faces is when clients who he has transported reach their destinations and refuse to pay. The rainy season also affects the business because the muddy roads are slippery and make him and his passengers risk having accidents. Fred describes himself as very hard working and honest. His dream is to save up enough money to become an extensive agriculturalist.
