Shandai Group's story

This is 47-year-old Loyce from Machipisa,a high-density suburb in Harare. She is married with four children, three still attending school. She is also taking care of her nephew and is responsible for the payment of his school fees. Loyce runs a manufacturing business of tailoring school uniforms. The business has been in operation for 13 years. She says the main challenges she faces are the erratic power supply and stiff competition. Loyce has requested a loan of $600 to buy rolls of cotton fabric and to pay for rent and rates to the local authority. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to improve the welfare of her family. In the future, Loyce plans to employ a great number of people to reduce unemployment.
