Kalipa's story

Kalipa is a 52-year-old widow who lives with her youngest son and his wife. Kalipa was born in a large family of a simple farmer. She was a precocious child and helped her mother take care of the household. After finishing school in 1978, Kalipa got married and went to live with her husband at his parents' home. Kalipa's husband was an accountant at the local collective farm, the family had livestock and land, on which they cultivated vegetables and grains, using their profits to purchase additional farm animals.

In 2010, Kalipa's husband passed away as the result of an illness. Her children and grandchildren helped Kalipa overcome her grief. Presently, she is supported by her youngest son, who has become the main helper in her business. Thanks to Kalipa's persistence and hard work, her herd currently has 3 horned animals and 1 horse. Being an active person, Kalipa has also opened a small retail kiosque that sells daily necessities, with a monthly net income of up to 8,000 som (KGS). In order to continue expanding her business, Kalipa has turned to Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan of 60,000 som (KGS) to purchase additional cattle. Kalipa plans to continue increasing the size of her herd and the volume of her sales, and dreams of one day buying an apartment in the city of Karabalta.
